The ‘AGM’

Today was possibly one of the most awesome days in the year. First was heading back to office for lunch and the company’s AGM. Think we managed to bring together almost all the staff that were either in Singapore or passing through for winter break.

It’s a humbling experience, really, to meet and work with a bunch of people who embody what it means to have passion for something you like. It’s two different worlds, because on weekdays I’m in an environment where everyone’s doing everything only to fulfill some clause in a social contract - no one likes what they’re doing, and no one could care less. Here, everyone’s presence is indicative of a deep desire to make a difference. In less than five months we’ve already achieved what would otherwise be considered by many as impossible or un-realistic. Amazing. Simply amazing.

It’s things like this that GMH when I feel like giving up because shit just keeps getting thrown my way.

So after the get-together I head over to Irodori for dinner. Would have gone to Ikoi if not for the fact that it was fully booked, but plans were always being made to hop across the road and give Irodori a try anyway.

The verdict is that the food is good, service is fair, but the combined experience just falls short of great. With Ikoi you get a very cosy atmosphere and the dishes that arrive give you the sense that food has been conscentiously and meticulously prepared, but this one was more like a modernized restaurant through and through. The area is less cramped though, so eating isn’t as claustrophobic, but I don’t think I’ll be going back.

Tomorrow will be another exciting day.
