Some lessons I’ve learnt over the years from trying to develop ideas, build startups and grow talent:
- You don’t hire people based on whether they can determine if anything has potential. You hire people based on whether they can find potential in anything.
- Stupid ideas are rarely stupid in reality.
- Come up with one thousand crazy concepts and one solid backup plan.
- Anything that looks professional does not cost money. A professional is an individual, not a piece of equipment.
- You can afford to offend everybody at least once.
- Coffee is is free yet legal tender.
- Reply promptly to everyone except the bidder.
- The person who offers you the highest price can be made to offer you the lowest price.
- A leg shake is far more potent than a hand shake.
